The Green Classroom Project

Building a Sustainable Future

The new block will contain two classrooms with room enough to house children at any stage of their education at Brightwell School. They will of course be fully accessible.

Between these classrooms will be space for toilets and space for coats and bags.

The design will ensure the classrooms are built to a “net zero” standard. This means using responsibly sourced materials (such as straw or recycled insulation, sustainable timber), minimal impact foundations (screws rather than cement), and other features such as MVHR (mechanical ventilation heat recovery), solar panels, air source heat pumps, and/or seeded roofs.

The Classrooms will also be modular, meaning they involve fewer materials, less waste and are quicker to put up than traditional buildings.

More details will be posted here once confirmed.
